Taking the Institute for Credit
The Summer Leadership Institute can either be taken as a course for graduate credit, or attendees can receive Professional Development/Attendance Credit.
CEUs/Attendance/PD Credit
Continuing Education Units (CEU), professional development credit, and attendance certificates for the Summer Leadership Institute given as non-credit transcripts through University College. If you are interested in CEUs. You need to use this link to register for CEUs: Non-Credit Class Instructions for Registration.
To register for CEUS, you will need a five-digit number for the institute. For the CEU registration the institute is called “EDN 100 U001 Summer Leadership Institute” for summer 2019 and the five-digit number you will need is 72841.
If you have ever had a NetID and password at Syracuse University, follow the instructions on the left side of the page. If you have never had a NetID/password, you will follow the instructions on the right side of the page. If participants have trouble using this system they can hit the “Chat with us” button during regular business hours to initiate an online chat. If you use this function after normal business hours, it will send an email and they will respond the next business day. Support for the CEU process can also be reached via email at bursareg@uc.syr.edu or at 315-443-4135.
Then at least 2 weeks afterwards, you can request a non-credit transcript online.
Graduate Credit
The Summer Leadership Institute can be taken for graduate academic credit through Syracuse University. The course involves an additional commitment in addition to the 3-day institute – readings ahead of time, classroom instruction on August 9 and 10, and a project due the week after. Please note that you must register for BOTH the Institute itself and EDA/SPE 700 to receive credit.
If you are not a currently a registered student at Syracuse University contact University college at 315-443-4135 for information on how to create your student record and obtain an SUID. University College can also answers questions regarding tuition and payment for the credits associated with the course. Once you have created your student record, contact Professor George Theoharis (gtheohar@syr.edu) with your SUID for a permission number. Once you have the permission number you will be able to register on myslice.syr.edu for Summer 2019.
